Dr. Bill Liu is the Chairman and CEO of Royole Corporation. Bill founded Royole in 2012 with several of his Stanford friends with the mission to define the future of information display technologies. Zheng (Jen) Liu, an of counsel in the Silicon Valley office, is a member of the Intellectual Property Group.
Ms. Liu’s practice focuses on patent, trade secrets, and unfair competition litigation, intellectual property counseling, due diligence and technology transactions across a broad range of industries, including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical devices, Internet and telecommunications. She advises Chinese companies on a wide range of legal issues specific to Chinese companies doing business in the United States, particularly in intellectual property, technology law, and commercial disputes. Some of the Chinese companies she has advised are Tencent, DJI, Foxit, UCWeb etc. She has also been the lead member for many patent infringement and commercial litigation cases and has argued important issues such as claim construction and examined witnesses in federal courts.
Before joining Orrick, Ms. Liu was an associate at a prominent IP litigation boutique firm, where she was involved in matters for Amgen Inc., Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc., Isis Pharmaceutical Inc., Napo Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Lilly ICOS LLC.
Ms. Liu worked in anti-viral drug development at Johnson & Johnson between graduate school and law school, therefore understands the science and process of drug development as well as the business objectives of corporations.
Ms. Liu was born and raised in China. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Berkeley Chinese Alumni International Association and on the board of the University of Science & Technology (USTC) Alumni Association. She was also the recent former President and current board member of Chinese Lawyers’ Association in the Bay Area (CALOBA). She has been active in promoting mutually beneficial legal and business relationships between the United States and China, helping Chinese law students and junior lawyers succeed in the United States, and lecturing Chinese companies and technology associations on legal issues faced by Chinese companies or professionals. She also writes articles for Chinese language publications, such as the prestigious Caijing magazine, on issues of U.S. law. She also provides pro bono legal services for victims of domestic violence.
Bret Kugelmass is CEO of Airphrame, a national geospatial data capture, processing, and hosting firm based in San Francisco, CA. Alex Ren is the CEO and cofounder of CrossCircles, which provides a referral-based mobile recruiting platform called Trustly. Alex has over 12 years of experience in sales and marketing in the enterprise software space. He first joined Agilent Technologies as a sales professional, where he successfully helped big giants like Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent build their enterprise R&D platform. Then he moved to the United States and became the Worldwide Business Development Manager for a software subdivision of Agilent, where he drove hyper growth for all their regions: Europe, North America, and Asia.

Haoyuan Li is founder and CEO of Tachyon Nexus. He is also a computer science Ph.D. candidate in AMPLab at UC Berkeley, where he co-created Tachyon, an open source memory-centric distributed storage system. Dr. Dongliang Ge is Director of Bioinformatics at Gilead Sciences, where he provides leadership to the bioinformatics group and provides strategic input to bioinformatics infrastructure and process. Prior to Gilead, he was appointed as Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University School of Medicine. He received his PhD of Biostatistics and Genetic Epidemiology from Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in 2004.
His work in discovering the IL28B genetic variants associated with the hepatitis C patients’ response to clinical treatment, published in Nature in 2009, has received over 2000 times of citations to date. Dr Xiang Qian is the Associate Medical Director of International Medical Services at Stanford University. He oversees the provision of clinical care and telemedicine consults in relevant programs and projects with affiliated clinics and hospitals.; he also reviews and approves telemedicine and referral protocols, policies, and procedures. Dr Qian is also responsible for working in collaboration with the faculty and hospital administrations to oversee the clinical and administrative operation.
Dr Xiang Qian is the Clinical Assistant Professor in Anesthesiology, Perioperative and and Pain Medicine at Stanford University. He is specialized in treating various pain conditions utilizing the combination of medicine, interventional procedure, physical therapy, and others. He co-leads a CT-guided interventional program at Stanford.
Dr Xiang Qian is also the President of the Society of Chinese American Physician Entrepreneurs, SCAPE, an organization of American physicians with Chinese origin. Matthew Holt has spent 25 years in health care as a researcher, forecaster, and strategist.
